Nail Art is the new Lipstick

Nail art has slowly become a brand new form of self-expression and it’s catching on like a wildfire. I’ve been observing the quick progression from boring and safe to crazy, out-of-this-world, “did she really just do that?” and I am LOVIN’ it.

No longer do we have to worry about our style shining through when wearing drab sweatpants on a Sunday afternoon, our nails are now bold enough to represent it for us. Glam glitters, roaring tiger stripes, galatic nebulas, geometric abstractions, gradient waterfalls, sexy vixens, and well, practically whatever you want.

On top of that, normal manicures last 1-2 weeks (or more if you’re really lucky) so you’re able to enjoy the best of it, erase it and move on to something new. No hard feelings involved. It’ll conform to how you’re feeling that week and plus, the possibilities are endless. How amazing is that?

You put water in a bowl and drop random colors of nailpolish in it. then you stir it with a toothpick and put petroleum jelly on your fingers, so that the nail polish only gets on your nails. then you stick your fingers in the bowl.

Tips on how to Paint fingernails Perfectly

A few weeks ago I attended ISSE the International Salon and Spa Expo in Long Beach,CA. It was so exciting lots of high energy, bright lights hundreds of booths, vendors and things going on at the same time. There were demonstrations on new hair styles, facials, tatoos, footcare, and nailcare.

If there is one thing I learned from the expo is that fingernail polish is the latest beauty trend. There were nail bars every where, they had nail polishes in every color imaginable and every texture. I have a few pics……

Tips on how to Paint Fingernails Perfectly.

1 ) Wash your hands thoroughly, concentrating on your nails and underneath them. Your nails should be clean and dry before applying nail polish.

2) Decide what color nail polish you want to use. Read the directions on the bottle before applying onto your nails. You may only need one coat, or it may suggest using two coats. If the polish is quick drying you will know to not waste time when applying it to each nail.

3) Trim and file nails before painting them.

4) Shake the bottle of nail polish to mix the color and ingredients. Some nail polishes will not go on evenly if you don’t mix the contents of the bottle.

5 ) Lift the brush out of the bottle, and wipe a little of the polish on the bottle as you pull it out. There should be polish on the brush but it should not be dripping.

6) Start applying the polish down the middle of your fingernail. Start at the cuticle and move the brush towards the tip of your nail.

7 ) Repeat step 6 except now you will be on the right side and then the left side of the nail. Painting your fingernail should only take three strokes–once down the middle and once on each side of that.

8 ) Allow the first coat to dry, and then apply a second coat of polish. You may even allow that to dry and then add a layer of clear polish. This will protect the color on your nails and will make the polish last longer.

9 ) Dip a cotton swab into some fingernail polish remover and wipe around the edges of your nails if there is any polish on your finger.
